A mama and a baby manatee were trying to mooch fruit off my family when we went swimming at our hotel in Key Largo. I freaked out when the baby brushed my leg because I thought it was a shark. You’re not supposed to mess with them since they’re a protected species, but they REALLY liked being petted and followed us around the beach for hours, rubbing us like really fat, marine cats.
